A bold, savory shrimp fried rice packed with layers of flavor and just the right touch of sweetness in every bite.

Ingredients

1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
3–4 cups cooked, cold rice
2 eggs
1–1½ cups mixed vegetables
2–3 green onions, sliced
2 tbsp neutral oil, divided
1–2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp mirin
1 tsp sesame oil, optional
Good Bayou, to generously season shrimp
If Onion You Knew, 1–1½ tsp
Umami You Tasty, 1–1½ tsp
Black pepper, if desired
Season the shrimp generously with Good Bayou. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and cook shrimp for about 1–2 minutes per side, until just cooked through. Remove and set aside.
Add the remaining oil. Scramble the eggs, then add the vegetables and cook until heated through.
Add the cold rice and break up any clumps. Season with If Onion You Knew and Umami You Tasty, then stir-fry until the rice is hot and beginning to toast.
Add soy sauce and mirin and toss thoroughly so the rice gets evenly coated. Add sesame oil if using.
Return the Good Bayou shrimp to the pan, add green onions, and toss just until everything is hot.
